4th of July 2013! at the Barnacle


Begin your Independence Day celebration with a good old-fashioned picnic at The Barnacle Historic State Park. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the whole family can enjoy traditional board games, crafts, a scavenger hunt, and more. Learn to make and fly your own kite. Pack your own picnic lunch or purchase hot dogs, burgers and other treats from The Barnacle Society. Entry is $5 for adults, $3 for kids ages 6 to 12, and free for kids under six. The event features performer, J.D. Danner. A New York girl with Southern roots, Danner has received awards from Fort Hood Army Base, Forgotten Soldiers Outreach and the Disabled American Veterans for her music in support of our troops. No alcohol, please.

Kids can make their own kites, toy boats, and paper dolls in order to understand how different children's lives were a hundred years ago. Prizes are awarded to those kids that complete a historical scavenger hunt. Bring your own picnic or buy burgers, hot dogs, and veggie dogs here. 11-4 p.m.
