18th Annual 9 Mile Music Festival, March 12, 2011

The 18th Annual 9 Mile Music Festival is being held from 1:00pm-12:00am at the Bayfront Park (301 N. Biscayne Blvd, Downtown Miami).
Formerly called the Caribbean Festival, the Bob Marley Movement is presenting various acts, among them, Stephen Marley, Damian Marley, Julian Marley, Ky-mani Marley, the Thievery Corporation, Slightly Stoopid, Major Lazer, Inner Circle, and Kevens.

General admission is $58, which can be purchased on the website, plus 4 canned goods to benefit Curley's House.

Winter Music Conference, March 8-12, 2011

The Miami Beach Convention Center is celebrating the 26th consecutive year of the Winter Music Conference from March 8-12. It is one of the most publicized annual music gatherings in the world and an important symposium for the impetus of the industry. The conference features seminars and panels about a wide variety of topics including music and industry, innovations in DJ and production technology, radio exposure, artist development, and many more topics, the international dance music awards, a DJ spin-off, club events and parties, a VJ challenge, networking events, and remic and editing workshops.

The Miami International Film Festival, March 4-13, 2011

Most prominent Ibero-American film festival in the US. The Miami International Film Festival presents the best developing and established films to the world within an educational setting. From March 4-13, a variety of both American and international films will be shown at different screening venues in Miami and Miami Beach. Chico & Rita, a film marking one of the greatest eras of creativity in Cuban-American jazz, is the first animated Opening Night film in the history of MIFF. Multiple award-winning films and films director by Oscar winners are being shown, including In a Better World, The Last Circus, If A Tree Falls: A Story About the Earth Liberation Front, and The Greatest Movie Ever Sold. The World Competition encompasses movies from all around the globe, including the Kurdish film Mandoo, the Chinese film The Piano in a Factory, the winner of the 2010 Jerusalem Film Festival, Intimate Grammar, and many other films from across the planet.

Auktion 392, February 5-April 25, 2011

The Jewish Museum of Florida presents the eye-opening "Auktion 392," made up of works of art that had been confiscated from Jewish countrymen by the Third Reich between 1933 and 1945. The showing displays a story about an arts philanthropist, gallery owner, and historian, Dr. Stern, whose art collection was looted and whose career was almost ruined by the Nazis. It also exhibits the "Aryanization policies of Nazi Germany, the racial cleansing and economic strategy used, the legal and moral issues of restitution, and the realistic difficulties in succeeding."
