The exhibition features 225 paintings, sculpture, prints,
ceramics, and lacquer from the 17th - early 20th century from the permanent
collection, which address a variety of themes, including the influence of China
and Korea on Japan during this crucial timeframe; the role of the artist and
pupil and the close association with other artists and patrons; the Japanese
life-style and belief structure; and the impact of the West. Featured are early
examples of the various painting schools, woodblock prints, and examples of
