Aqua Art Miami Fair, December 1-4

Aqua Art Miami contemporary art fair takes place each December at the Aqua Hotel, 1530 Collins Ave., Miami Beach. This year the show dates are December 1-4, with a preview party on Wednesday evening, November 30.
     The classic South Beach boutique hotel has breezy, spacious rooms surrounding an intimate courtyard. The hot tub has become a favorite gathering spot to soak tired feet, relax and socialize during Art Basel week. And Aqua is located within walking distance of Art Basel, just south of the bustling Lincoln Road restaurant and shopping area. Many hotel beach bars and cocktail events are close by and the glorious beach itself is just a block away.

Admission is $10 for the whole week.

Miami Art Space (MAS)- Elements Exhibition, 11/20-12/4

MIAMI ART SPACE (MAS) is a contemporary and innovative art space located in the heart of the Wynwood Art District and just west of Miami’s Design District. Developed to be a mixed use venue, MAS’s ample interior and exterior spaces welcome events of all sizes and types, and is only limited by one’s imagination. Inside you’ll find large bright spaces with soaring ceilings and cool contemporary touches. Outside enjoy over 7,000 sq. ft. of private/walled courtyards surrounded by lush bamboo gardens.

Ink Miami Art Fair- November 30- December 4th

INK Miami is a contemporary art fair held annually during Art Basal Miami Beach, sponsored by the Fine Print Dealers Association. It starts with Desayuno Cubano at 10am with a special preview of the fair, and on December 1st, there are Artists talks with the curator Jane Simon, the Contemporary Art Museum, the Institute for Research in Art, and Assistant Professor of the University of Tampa Gregg Perkins leading  informal conversations with two leading contemporary artists who are using printmaking to extend their artistic works.

Art Asia

ART ASIA Miami is a highly selective showcase of galleries from around the world that focuses on the best of established and emerging contemporary artists from throughout Asia.

 In 2011, ART ASIA Miami will further develop the presence of Near Eastern, Middle Eastern, and South East Asian galleries and artists—paying special attention to broadening the understanding of Asian contemporary art. In 2011, the fair will host programming including artist talks, curatorial tours, and discussion panels.

Art Basel Miami Beach- December 1-4

From December 1 through 4, Miami Beach, Florida, will host the 10th edition of Art Basel Miami Beach, the most prestigious art show in the Americas. More than 260 leading galleries from North America, Europe, Latin America, Asia and Africa will take part, showcasing works by more than 2,000 artists of the 20th and 21st centuries.

SCOPE Art- November 29- December 4th

SCOPE is the largest and most global art fair in the world featuring emerging contemporary art. Design Miami November 29th- December 4th

Moby at Mansion, December 3rd

Moby released his first single, "Go" in 1991(listed as one of rolling stones best records of all time) and has been making albums ever since. His own records have sold over 20,000,000 copies worldwide, and he's also produced and remixed scores of other artists, including David Bowie, Metallica, The Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, among others. Moby has toured extensively, playing well over 3,000 concerts in his career. He has also had his music used in hundreds of different films, including "Heat," "Any Given Sunday," "Tomorrow Never Dies" and "The Beach," among others. Join us as Others Play House, We Play Mansion presents Moby at Mansion Nightclub in Miami Beach during Art Basel Weekend 2011 alongside resident Laurent Simeca.

        

Club Space

Club Space- this is a great club in the downtown area of Miami. The lines are usually long, so make sure you arrive before midnight! The sound-system is great... you can hear it from two blocks away even with the windows of your car rolled up! The lower floor usually plays hip-hop and pop music- like a top 40 mix, the second floor has 2 separate dance floors, one with a house/trance feel and one with more mainstream electronic music. All of the dance floors have dancers with cool dresses, and the drinks here are moderately expensive (pre-game before you come)! The dresscode here is more casual than the other major clubs on South Beach- most people just come to dance, rave, have fun.

Inaugural Dirty Mistress Event- November 12th!

This retro-inspired pop up shop event features a fashion show, pin up contest and burlesque show. The event will also have 8-10 vendors in the fashion industry. Ulta will be sponsoring the event and providing free hair and make up to all guests. The event is free to the public from 7 p.m.-midnight.

SOLO Art Miami 2012, November 11-13

The Plunge Rooftop

Plunge Rooftop Bar- 18 stories above Miami you can visit the adults-only rooftop pool located at the top of the Gansevoort South Beach. The scene highlights the ocean and there are private cabanas and plush couches to lounge on. The cocktails aren't crazy expensive like some of the other South Beach clubs and there is great music, but the bathrooms are basically outside with no ceilings. There are TVs and a projector around the bar, so it's great for sporting events as well.

Nikki Beach Club

Nikki Beach Club- this club is comprised of a large oceanfront complex featuring an outdoor beach club, an award-winning restaurant and a sexy South Beach nightclub. There is full food and bottle service here. The outside bathroom is a public bathroom, so it's not too great... And the set-up outside is kind of jumbled and strange. On Sunday, it's said to be the "place to be," but is definately not a hang out for us locals.

Miami Short Film Festival, November 12-20

The Miami Short Film Festival (MsFF) is celebrating 10 continuous years of bringing excellent cinema to South Florida. To celebrate this milestone the festival is kicking off with a series of events every month leading to the main event this November. Mynt Lounge

Mynt Lounge- there are pretty go-go dancers and waitresses and cool special effects. There is a separate area where they play hip-hop which rarely gets packed and opens up around 1:30am, so you can dance to house/top 40 in the main room and then switch to the other. This club has been going in Miami for a long time, which is pretty uncommon as clubs typically come and go. The drinks are just as expensive as the other clubs, but people come here to party-- not to look cool or "be seen"-- to get wasted and have fun!
